A few things I'm working on lately
I have a lot of creative projects, and not enough time to do them 🥲

About me
I love making stuff. What stuff? Pretty much anything. I crochet, had a painting phase, got into sculpture for a little while, just picked up knitting, am dipping my toes into spinning and weaving, trying to learn to draw in Procreate, and have been taking an online class to learn Blender. In my day job, I work as a product (UI/UX) designer — in other words, I make apps and websites. I used to be an engineer, and one day I’d like to get into woodworking too.
What’s this blog about?
Here, I’ll write about all the things I’m working on. Partly to share with other people, but partly to keep myself accountable to making progress. I don’t want to let life get in the way of feeding my soul, and then look up one day and realize that I let eons of not doing the things that fulfill me pass me by. Lately, I’m finding a lot of satisfaction in various creative endeavors — making things feels so much better than doomscrolling hypnotically on my phone!

What have I done lately?
3D modeling in Blender
This month, I learned how to add materials and images to objects in Blender. A few months ago I had started making a scale model of my office in Blender, so I could play with shelf placement without drilling holes in my real wall. At the time though, I didn't know how to apply colors to my model, so the whole thing languished in grayness for months.
This past weekend, I put my newfound skills to good use in coloring my office model! It's starting to look nicer and I'm pretty happy with how it's progressing. Eventually I think it would be cool to model some plants and stuff to make a whole scene.
One thing that I'm not sure how to fix is how grainy and zoomed in the image textures are. A good example is the rug, although the wood texture on the text is pretty bad too. I was hoping there was a way to zoom the images out and reposition them, but I'm not sure where to find those settings, if they exist.
Following a Procreate tutorial
I’m also trying (again, for the 3rd time) to learn Procreate. I rewatched the beginner’s series on Procreate’s YouTube channel, then took my new basic skills to follow another tutorial on YouTube [by XXX]. I think it was great practice, even though I wasn’t thrilled with the artistic outcome — I could see a lot of areas for improvement. But that’s a good thing, since it means I’ll only get better if I keep practicing!

Crocheting a sweater
In late 2023, I started working on a crochet sweater for my husband. For those who know what it means, it’s fingering weight all in single crochets 🙃 Sometime in early 2024, I thought I messed up and got so discouraged that I didn’t touch it for nine months. At the beginning of 2025, I thought “Screw it, just finish already!” and set a goal to crochet for just five minutes every day.
While I haven’t met that goal (mostly I work on it in large stretches interspersed on weekends), I have made a lot of progress on it. Each month I added somewhere between 4-8 inches to the length since January, and I finished the body back in June. This month, I started and finished the first sleeve! Now my goal is to finish the second sleeve before the end of August — we shall see if I can make that self-imposed deadline.

What do I want to do next?
I’ll definitely be continuing the crochet sweater — I really want to finish it ASAP so that I can move on to other projects that I’m more excited about! I also will be continuing with my Blender and Procreate education, albeit at a slower pace. I’m also experimenting with social media as a platform of sharing my work and potentially getting feedback.
